Was Dylan really that good? Cone on, man - don't make me have to go and listen to this stuff.

Turn it up, turn it up, little bit higher, radio
Turn it up, that's enough, so you know it's got soul...

Right on Lobster! I love the version(s) on Last Waltz - he owned the place when he played it.

Well Rob back then pre- internet any Dylan on good quality film was really good. To me anyway. But whenever anyone mentions that movie i automatically think of Van The Man. No Method No Guru No Teacher.
In a deyzed kind of way I thought I'd listen to TDIH from Cleveland, Ohio (my home state) and was listening to The Band, "Look Out Cleveland" in anticipation. However jglynn distracted me with Big River, so here I am http://www.archive.org/details/gd73-11-20.wolfson.warner.22879.sbeok.shnf

Forever Young? Hell Yeah he was that good. So was Joni doing Coyote. And even Neil that wasted was better. Not meaning to diss Van but I kind of am. I like him ok on record but when I saw him live it's a little too showy for me. played less than an hour of his boring religious tunes then 45 minutes of here come the hits medely one after another bam bam get em all in and over with

Van has always been a grumpy old bastard. I'm not declaring unconditional love for the guy - just saying I love the Last Waltz performance. Last year when he toured he imposed a drinks ban at his shows because it 'distracted him' when people went off for a beverage. This and charging £100/$165 a ticket. How up yourself can you possibly get?

Still dig that Caravan though.
